The Builder

The planning committee saw a space,
They came. They created. The triptych complete.
Foundations expanded, filling the space completely.

The builder developed - Idiosyncrasy, Unitary construction.
Superstructure. Upstanding;
Outstanding;
Ignoring regulations, creating new convention. The space developed.

Built like no other, growing, strong (so strong). Protecting from life's storms.
Seemingly imperishable, belying a soft interior; designed by the heart.
Wired like no other, providing power. Reaching dark corners with tender light
Heated like no other, volcanic warmth from reliable, solid rock.

Heritage with contemporary touches. Humble, humorous Gaudi architecture, fitting
uniquely, yet politely into the space.
Watching changes unfold in the world outside with settlement cracks of grumpy objection

Compulsory eviction.
Invasion. Squalid squatter..... In control - But not in charge
Remodelled, but spirit untouched. Dismantled, not destroyed
Superficially reconfigured, but soul intact
Quintessence of spiritual immortality

The structure removed.
The space still full.
At peace, the cycle complete.
